It gives me great pleasure to inform you that our Apartment Association is now a part of the newly formed FEDERATION OF APARTMENT ASSOCIATIONS – BENGALURU (FAAB). Apartment culture in Bangalore is assuming greater importance day by day and going forward one can estimate that around 50% of Bangalore residents would be staying in Apartment complexes. No wonder that going ahead, Bangalore may have thousands of Apartment complexes in the City.
As most of the apartment residents are engaged in their service or profession, hardly they find time to represent for any illegality / unjust decisions of various govt authorities thrust upon them as we have seen in the recent past about STP or unilateral increase in the water charges by BWSSB. This is the beginning of the onslaught and if this is not resisted, going forward, many more such harsh measures may be initiated on Flat dwellers as they are the soft targets. Also, Apartment Associations are managed by Friends like you and me who are not specialists in managing apartment complexes. We look forward to find someone to help us when we face serious issues but find none to help. Apartment dwellers are always treated as Second Class citizens by various civic authorities but when it comes to levying extra charges, levies etc., we are the main targets. Under the circumstances, the only option for us is to unitedly fight for our rights. Therefore, we have joined the Voluntary group called FAAB - Federation of Apartment Associations – Bengaluru.
This Group, even before registering as a formal body, took up the STP challenge since November 2016. They mobilized more than 100 associations, made representations to BWSSB, held meeting with the Chairman BWSSB and the result is in all the newspapers with the BWSSB recommending for increasing the number of apartment units size from 20 to 50, extending the date upto 31.12.2017, agreeing to refund the penalties already levied & collected and making it compulsory only for new apartments with more than 20 units.
